Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20004
Join Free DC, Fair Budget Coalition, and community partners at the Wilson Building as the DC Council considers tax policies to help fund essential public services.
Budget cuts have affected programs supporting housing, health care, nutrition, food assistance, and families with limited incomes. Organizers are calling for new revenue to help restore these services and meet the needs of DC communities.
The coalition supports the proposed Wealth Proceeds Tax, which would tax certain investment income earned by very high-income households. According to the event organizers, the proposal could generate approximately $200 million and additional revenue in subsequent years to support essential programs.
Join the hearing throughout the day. Come for as long as you can and make your voice heard as the Council considers policies that will shape DC’s budget and the future of its communities.
